Hey,
I'm Gavin.
Before I ever picked up a camera, I was in a Boys & Girls Club gym. For over a decade, I worked in youth development and community partnerships. I ran programs, built relationships with families, and stood alongside people on their best days and their hardest ones. That work was never about me. It was about showing up, earning trust, and paying real attention to the people in front of me.
That chapter taught me how to connect with people and find the story beneath the surface. It also taught me that the moments worth remembering are usually the quiet ones you would miss if you were not paying attention. That is still how I work a room, a sideline, or a shoot.
Today, Gavin (Bison) Media is a traveling photography business based in Janesville, Wisconsin. I serve Wisconsin, Illinois, and Hawaii, and I will travel wherever a client calls from. Photography is the heart of what I do, because a moment happens once and then it is gone. A photograph keeps it. That is what I am really after on every shoot: a frame that lasts long after the day is over.
I shoot Sports and Fitness, Commercial and Product, Events, Branding, Wildlife and Pets, and Professional Headshots. Whether it is a CrossFit floor, a hockey rink, a product on a table, or a business owner in their element, the goal is the same, images built to last and to work.
My background is in video production, and that still shapes how I see a still frame. Years behind a camera in motion taught me to read light, timing, and story before I ever press the shutter. A great photo is NOT luck. It is preparation meeting the right moment, and knowing what to do when that moment shows up.
As a solo operator, you ALWAYS know exactly who is behind the camera and who is on the hook for the result. No teams to hand you off to. Just me, prepared and accountable, on every shoot. I am NOT interested in making pictures just to make pictures. Every image should earn its place, and every shoot should hand you something worth keeping.
